My Weight Loss Story

Loic Assobmo • December 18, 2023

As the co-owner of “Renew Weight-loss and Wellness Spa,” I believe in transparency and following by example. In 2022 when my 1st son was born, I found myself reaching the the highest weight that I had ever been in my life at 200 pounds for my 5’11 height. Most of this weight went to my stomach and face. I gave myself all the excuses that I hear many of my patients using:

  • “I’m too busy to exercise.”
  • “I injured my knees and cannot run like how I usually do.”
  • “My apple watch says I’m taking ‘x’ amount of steps a day, I’m not sure why I’m not losing weight.”

I found myself wearing bigger shirts to cover up my stomach. But eventually I got to the point where I was looking at my stomach in the mirror and didn’t like what I was seeing. I had to face the reality, and I asked myself what good is it if I could fool other people to not notice my weight gain because I was wearing bigger shirts, only to come home and look at my stomach in the mirror and not like what I was seeing?

Though my personal weight loss journey did not involve the use of any medications, it relied heavily on the fundamentals of nutrition and exercise that I now teach to all of our clients.

In just 6 months, from April 2023 to September 2023 I lost 35lbs and went from 200lb to 165lb. Although I could have chosen to use any of the various diets out there, I personally chose to do intermittent fasting in order to reduce my overall calorie intake because this diet fit my lifestyle the best. Since I had injured my knees and could not run as much as I did in the past, I utilized resistance training to burn calories, and build muscles in my weight loss journey.

Maintaining weight loss, is a lot harder than losing weight. That is why our program emphasizes lifestyle adjustments, diet, nutritional counseling, and exercise coaching. We want to ensure that we give our clients the tools to maintain their weight loss way after they complete our program so that they will not have to keep spending money on weight loss again.
